When Holding It All Together Feels Too Heavy
Finding relief from overwhelm, guilt, and the pressure to be strong.
Life can sometimes feel heavy.
You may find yourself holding everything together on the outside, while inside you feel anxious, exhausted, or close to breaking point. Perhaps you used to feel organised and in control, the one everyone else could turn to, but now it feels like no matter how hard you try, you cannot keep up.
Maybe you are lying awake with racing thoughts, second-guessing yourself, and worrying about every possible “what if.” Or perhaps you feel numb, disconnected, and guilty that you are not coping the way you think you “should.”
When the world feels overwhelming, it is easy to keep pushing through, telling yourself to “just get on with it.” But carrying everything alone often makes those feelings even heavier.
A Space to Breathe and Be Heard
Counselling offers a calm and supportive space where you do not have to be “the strong one.” Here, you can put some of the weight down and talk openly about what is on your mind, without fear of being judged, criticised, or told what to do.
In person-centred counselling, you set the pace. You bring what matters to you, and I walk alongside you as you begin to untangle your thoughts and feelings. Many of my clients say the biggest relief is realising, “yes, you’ve got it — that’s exactly how it feels.”
You Do Not Have to Wait Until Crisis
Many people believe counselling is only for those in crisis. While it can be life-changing during the hardest times, it can also be valuable earlier on — when you first notice that something feels off, or that life feels heavier than it used to.
Starting counselling before you reach breaking point can help you:
Understand yourself and your needs more clearly
Let go of impossible expectations and self-criticism
Ease the guilt and pressure of always having to appear strong
Build healthier coping strategies and resilience
Focus on what is really within your control
Moving Towards What Matters
My role as your counsellor is not to “fix” you or hand you answers, but to help you find your own way forward. Over time, counselling can lead to greater self-understanding, self-acceptance, and the freedom to live in a way that feels more manageable and authentic.
If you are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, or tired of carrying it all on your own, you do not have to face it alone. Counselling can offer the space and support to begin letting go of what is too heavy, and to move towards what truly matters to you.
I offer a free 20-minute consultation, so you can ask questions and get a feel for how I work. You are very welcome to get in touch.
