A Little About Me
I’m Vicky Martin, a qualified person-centred counsellor based in Bolton, Greater Manchester. I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and offer face-to-face counselling and online therapy across the UK. I believe in the power of human connection, that being truly heard and accepted in a calm, safe space can bring healing and growth.
Clients often describe me as warm, grounded, and easy to talk to. I bring my whole self to each session, offering a genuine, compassionate presence where you don’t need to pretend or hold back.
My Counselling Approach
My approach is person-centred, which means I will meet you just as you are, without judgment, pressure, or agenda. Whether you are feeling overwhelmed, anxious, stuck in low self-worth, or navigating grief or trauma, we’ll explore your experiences together at your pace. I hold space sensitively and respectfully, helping you make sense of things in a way that feels right for you.
Areas of special interest
I have a special interest in women’s mental health, including menopause, pregnancy loss, birth trauma, and perinatal mental health. I support clients through antenatal and postnatal anxiety or depression, and the emotional challenges of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
My background includes NHS perinatal experience, I also volunteer with Home-Start, supporting families with young children, and with a bereavement charity, offering space for those grieving pregnancy and baby loss.
Clients I have supported
Over time, I have supported new fathers adjusting to parenthood and clients living with chronic illness, helping them navigate change and find meaning in their experiences. I also work with young people and adults who have experienced difficult early relationships, neglect, or abuse.
I understand how these experiences can affect our sense of safety, self-worth, and trust, and I offer a steady, grounded presence as we gently explore your path forward.
A Little More About Me
Outside the counselling room, you will often find me walking in nature with my dog, curled up with a good book, or getting messy with a craft project. I also enjoy yoga and spending time with my family. I carry this calm, reflective way of being into my counselling work, offering a steady, compassionate presence for whatever you may be facing.
If you are exploring whether counselling could support you, I warmly invite you to book a free 20-minute consultation. It is a relaxed and informal space to ask questions, talk through what you are looking for, and see if I may be the right person to support you. There is no pressure, just a gentle conversation to help you decide what feels right.
