Counselling for Adults in Bolton & Online
Sometimes life feels difficult, and it isn't always easy to explain why.
You might be struggling with grief, low mood, stress, relationship difficulties, or changes in your life. Perhaps you're feeling stuck, questioning yourself or finding that things which once felt manageable are becoming harder.
You don't need a diagnosis or have to know exactly why you are struggling to come to counselling.
I offer counselling for adults in Bolton and online across the UK, giving you space to explore what is happening in your life, understand your feelings, and work towards changes that feel right for you.
What Can Counselling Help With?
People come to counselling for many different reasons. Sometimes there's a particular experience or difficulty they want to work through. Other times, it's a combination of things that have gradually become harder to manage.
Here are some of the difficulties I can support you with:
-
Anxiety can leave you feeling constantly on edge, worrying about what might happen or struggling to switch off your thoughts. You might experience panic, physical tension or find yourself avoiding situations that feel overwhelming.
Counselling can help you understand what is happening and explore ways to manage anxiety so it has less impact on your everyday life.
-
Low mood and depression can affect how you think, feel, and manage everyday life. You might feel persistently sad, emotionally flat or exhausted, lose interest in things you once enjoyed, or struggle with motivation and self-confidence. Sometimes there is a clear reason for how you are feeling, and sometimes there isn't.
Counselling for low mood and depression offers space to explore what may be contributing to these feelings. Together, we can look at unhelpful thinking patterns, the impact on your daily life, and practical ways to support your emotional wellbeing, working at a pace that feels right for you.
-
Burnout and emotional overwhelm can develop when you've been juggling too much for too long. You might feel constantly exhausted, irritable or unable to switch off, even when you have time to rest. Things you would normally manage may start to feel difficult, and you might find yourself withdrawing from others or feeling like you have nothing left to give.
Counselling for burnout and overwhelm can help you explore what is contributing to these feelings, recognise patterns such as people-pleasing or putting everyone else's needs before your own, and find ways to manage stress, set boundaries and make space for your own wellbeing.
-
Low self-esteem can affect how you see yourself, your relationships and the decisions you make. You might struggle with self-doubt, compare yourself to others, find it difficult to accept compliments or worry about what people think of you. Perhaps you put other people's needs before your own, find it hard to say no, or feel that you are never quite good enough.
Counselling for low self-esteem and self-worth can help you explore where these beliefs have come from and how they affect your everyday life. Together, we can work on challenging your inner critic, developing self-compassion, building confidence, and feeling more comfortable being yourself.
-
Grief can affect us in many different ways, whether you are coping with the death of someone close to you or experiencing another significant loss in your life. You might feel sadness, anger, guilt, or numbness, find yourself overwhelmed by memories, or struggle with how life has changed. Sometimes grief can resurface months or even years later, when you least expect it.
Bereavement counselling offers space to talk about your loss and the person or experiences you are grieving, without feeling pressured to move on or feel a certain way. Together, we can explore how grief is affecting you and find ways to adjust to life alongside your loss, at your own pace.
-
Relationships can be a source of support, but they can also leave us feeling hurt, frustrated or misunderstood. You might find yourself caught in repeated arguments, struggling to communicate your needs, or putting other people's feelings before your own. Perhaps you find it difficult to say no, worry about disappointing others or feel responsible for keeping everyone happy.
Counselling for relationship difficulties can help you explore patterns in your relationships, understand how past experiences may be affecting you and develop healthier boundaries. Together, we can work on building confidence, expressing your needs and finding a better balance between caring for others and looking after yourself.
-
Life changes can sometimes leave you feeling uncertain about who you are or where you are heading. You might be adjusting to a relationship ending, changes in family life, children becoming more independent, career changes or a new stage of life. Even changes you've looked forward to can bring unexpected emotions. Perhaps you feel stuck, have lost confidence or no longer feel quite like yourself.
Counselling for life changes and transitions offers space to explore these feelings, understand what is important to you and make sense of where you are in your life. Together, we can work towards rebuilding confidence, reconnecting with your own needs and finding a way forward that feels right for you.
